ROSEVILLE, CA–(Marketwired – September 21, 2016) – Sunworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW), a leading provider of solar power solutions for agriculture, commercial, industrial (ACI), and residential markets, agrees that in addition to the solar environmental benefits, one of the perks of solar power systems are their easy and non-intrusive installation process. Regardless of whether you are going solar with your home, business or farm, the process remains the same: inexpensive, quick and low impact on your property. Here is a guide to the steps on the path to converting to clean, sustainable solar power:
Step One: Evaluation
When you first decide to investigate solar, it pays to consult with an expert. At Sunworks, we provide anyone who is interested with a free, on-site evaluation. A solar power and installation expert will visit your property and survey the site, focusing on challenges related to space, positioning, generation, permitting and many other aspects of the solar installation and operation process.
Our experts will then put together a comprehensive installation plan, based on the space you have available. This plan will map out where solar panel arrays will be installed on your property and give you a sense of the scope of the work. It will also include an estimated budget and projection of how much (on average) electricity your proposed array will generate, including return on investment calculation to show you an estimated average energy savings.
While myths about needing a southern-facing roof to make the most of a solar power system abound, the truth is that solar panels can installed virtually anywhere you choose. True, you want positioning that faces the sun as much as possible, but solar panels can collect energy even in ambient (indirect) sunlight. Combined with their lightweight, sturdy design, panels can be placed wherever there is a surface that faces the sun: On a garage roof, a garden shed, even on a free-standing mounted system.
Step Two: Planning
With the evaluation complete, you are paired with a designated Customer Experience Representative who will walk you through the next phase of the process. When the installation project begins, there will need to be various steps coordinated between you as the property owner, your solar provider and the local utility company that operates your electrical grid.
This Customer Experience Representative acts as your guide and advocate, keeping you informed as to what steps are being taken to move the project along and asking for information as needed. At Sunworks, your Representative will assist with the planning by coordinating:
- Project Scope
- Product Recommendations
- Best Suppliers/Bidders
- Observance of Sunworks Quality Standards
- Manage your RFPs (commercial projects)
Step Three: Installation
Once the project has been mapped out and the necessary permits and permissions obtained, the actual installation will begin. After confirming a convenient time, a group of certified, experienced solar array installers will come to your home or property will all the materials and hardware needed to complete the job.
The installation itself takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days and is typically minimally disruptive to your everyday life. Roof-mounted panels bolt simply onto existing structures without creating lasting damage or holes that cause leaks. The project will also include the installation of a solar energy meter, typically placed alongside your existing electricity meter, which will measure how much power your system is producing.
Once the installation is completed, communication with your local energy grid will finalize the process. Your Customer Experience Representative will help get your net energy metering plan set up so that you are given appropriate credit for the solar power you generate. This process could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how quickly the utility company responds to requests. Once this is finalized, congratulations: Your solar power system is up and running!
Step Four: Operation and Maintenance
Next comes the easy part: Sitting back and watching your energy bills drop as your solar power system generates clean, free electricity. You should see an immediate impact on your electricity bills, through patience is recommended when it comes to monitoring the bottom line.
