Photovoltaic (PV) Foreman Installer

Position Summary:

Mechanically minded individual to work in the field supervising and installing residential and light commercial grid‐tied photovoltaic (PV) systems. Manage and direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project with the highest level of safety, quality, and efficiency and in conformity to the original plans and specifications. Help facilitate and coordinate with management, city officials and inspectors necessary throughout the project. Practice good business principles, achieve company goals, use best management practices, as well as ensure field personnel maintains sound construction practices.

Responsibilities:

  1. Understands and interprets the project plans and drawings.
  2. Maintains construction schedule, identifies and solves problems.
  3. Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of projects on schedule with quality workmanship
    that conforms to original plans and specifications.
  4. Provide direction and supervision of all field activities related to the physical construction process
    including final punch list.
  5. Coordinate the work of subcontractors on site.
  6. Manage project resources (materials, tools and equipment)
  7. Maintains professional, courteous and respectful relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
  8. Ensures attention to detail with emphasis on quality and safety of both roof and electrical work involved with solar installation.
  9. Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
  10. Ensures all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
  11. Maintains an organized job site.
  12. Quickly and accurately complete any service work required.
  13. Manage weekly timesheets and safety logs.

Requirements:

  • This is a working (PV) Forman position.
  • California Certified Electrician with general certification. (Commercial card)
  • A working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), OSHA safety standards and local Jurisdiction codes.
  • 5+ years supervisory/ journeyman electrician experience.
  • Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC.
  • Knowledge of major PV components (PV Modules, inverters and racking systems, preferred)
  • Must be able to assemble and test solar designs.
  • Must be skilled with bending conduit and common electrical practices.
  • General construction knowledge to include: roofing, electrical and carpentry skills.
  • Full range of mobility in upper and lower body and be able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday.
  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Position requires roof and attic work.
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft office: Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to travel to various job locations and be onsite during project installation.
  • Passion for renewable energy and interest in bringing solar to the mainstream.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to put in the time necessary to maintain an effective schedule that matches the needs of clients and budget.
